How is the database size measured?

Learn about the database size and the definition of the contact.

When you log in to User.com the first view is always the People section. This is the place where you have the access to the database stored in your account.

This section of the application includes both anonymous visitors of your website and identified users with the contact details. Total number of the records is visible on top of the list.

User.com subscriptions are based on the database size. However, not all the records are taken into consideration, meaning not all of them affect the price. Only "contacts" are counted.

To define the database size you pay for we need to start with the definition of the "contact".

Contact - is the defined record in the database you pay for. Contact should include at least one of the following parameters:

  • email address

  • user_id

  • phone number

  • last heard from (meaning that the user has contacted you via chat)

  • web push subscription

  • FCM key (needed for the mobile application integrations)

If the record in the database has at least one of the parameters above he/she will be added to the "Contacts" segment. There you can always check the up-to-date number of contacts in the database.

User - is any record in the database in the User.com application. It can be an anonymous visitor or a contact.

So, all the users are visible in the People section. The list of users includes the contacts to pay for.

Database size

Information about the database size can be found in "Settings" -> "App settings" -> "Additional" -> "Database size".

This is the section where the data is updated once a day. This is the final place that confirms the number of contacts you are currently paying for as the billing system reflects these data.
