How to create a CRM activity

Learn how to create CRM activities manually, automatically, in bulk, or via API, so you and your team never miss an important task or touchpoint.


Activities in User.com help you plan, assign, and track tasks across your sales, support, and onboarding processes. Whether you're scheduling a follow-up call, assigning a task to a teammate, or logging a completed meeting, creating activities ensures that every step of the customer journey is visible and actionable.

How to Create a Single CRM Activity Manually

You can manually create a new activity from several areas of the app depending on what object you are working with. No matter where you start, all paths lead to the same “Create Activity” form where you fill out key details.

Activities Section

  1. Go to CRM > Activities section.

  2. Find "Create Activity +" button in top right corner of the panel.

  3. Fill the creation form with the details.

User Profile

  1. Go to Data > People section.

  2. Open the user's profile.

  3. Click on "New Activity" in the central part of the profile.

  4. Fill the creation form with the details.

Company Profile

  1. Go to Data > Company section.

  2. Open the company's profile.

  3. Click on "New Activity" in the central part of the profile.

  4. Fill the creation form with the details.

Deal Profile

  1. Go to CRM > Deals section

  2. Open the deal's profile

  3. Click on "New Activity" in the central part of the profile.

  4. Fill the creation form with the details.

All these places lead to one common "Create an Activity" form that includes both standard and custom attributes fields. Choose the required ones and fill them with the data.

Example: Working on a specific deal sales representative is planning a follow-up call with the lead from the pipeline. In such a case it's enough to click "New Activity" and schedule the task. It will be visible on the timelines of all related objects.

How to Create a CRM Activity Automatically

“Create an Activity” action module in an automation flow generates tasks based on specific user behavior or changes in the CRM.

To configure this module you need to fill the required fields. It's possible to use snippet tags to create unique names and descriptions of the activities.

Example: When a user submits a "Demo Request" Form, the flow automatically creates a deal on a chosen pipeline, assigns it to the sales representative and creates a "call" activity for this specialist.

How to Create CRM Activities in Bulk

If you have a list of tasks to import, you can bulk-create activities using the import feature.

  1. Go to Settings > Importers > Import Activities.

  2. Choose if you want to upload a CSV file or paste the data right there.

  3. Check if the separator suits the data structure of your file/pasted data.

  4. Make sure the encoding also suits the data structure of your file/pasted data.

  5. Upload the activities.
