Font support in Email campaigns
Why some fonts can't be generated and which fonts are web-safe.
Why some fonts can't be generated?
There are many issues to be taken into account in marketing campaigns and fonts may seem to be the least important, however, when the recipient of our campaigns may use many devices, operating systems, and above all, browsers, the matter becomes very complicated.
This is due to the fact that the font used in the email has to be supported by the recipient's browser, which as we all know is not always the case.
More non-standard, less common fonts may not be able to be generated, and then we're doomed to a default generated font (for example for Gmail it's Arial).
Which fonts are web-safe?
Fortunately, we now have many "safe" fonts available that can be displayed on most devices. Some that we can personally recommend include:
- Arial
- Helvetica
- Verdana
- Georgia
- Times New Roman
- Courier
By creating an email template and specifying several fonts in the font-family, including one of the above, we can be sure that even if our font could not be generated, one of the visually similar fonts of our choice will be generated in its place.
