Find out what you need to do to configure IMAP or SMTP for your account with a 2-step verification
Most companies require a 2-step verification on employees' email accounts. To know why and how to set a 2-step verification on Gmail, check this article. If your account also has such a security restriction, you need to generate a unique password for every application you want to use your credentials on.
To generate a new password proceed with the following steps:
Log in to your Google account. Click on the top right corner and choose "Manage your Google account".
Click Security on the left and then go to 2-Step Verification.
Scroll down to App passwords.
You may need to re-log in to your Gmail account during this step.
Type in the name for your app and click Create.
You will receive a unique 16-character app password.
