IMAP/SMTP for account with 2-step verification

Find out what you need to do to configure IMAP or SMTP for your account with 2-step verification


Most of the companies require 2-step verification on email accounts of their employees.

So, if your account also have such a security restriction, you need to generate unique password for every application you want to use your credentials for.

To generate new password proceed with the following steps:

- Log in to your Google account. Click on the top right corner and choose "Google account".

- Click Security on the left and then go to App passwords.

- Log in to your Gmail account again to verify yourself and continue.

- Select app ("Other" and enter User.com) and click Generate

You will receive unique code that can be used only once. Please, remember, to copy it straight away. The code will be shown to you only once!

Where to use unique password in User.com?

SMTP:

If you want to use your email address to send the email campaigns from, then you need to use generic password in your SMTP settings.

So, go to Settings > SMTP Settings section and fill the details following the article linked above. In "password" field use the unique password you generated in your google account.

IMAP:

If you want your email inbox to be connected with User.com application (to see all incoming and outgoing emails between you and your users), you need to set up IMAP configuration.
